In the UK most of our equipment is funded through statutory sources such as Local Authorities, NHS equipment services or Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
Under the Care Act 2014 Local Authorities in England are obliged to assess adults’ needs for community equipment aids. They are required to coordinate with relevant partners including Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to ensure efficient provision of care and equipment for their clients. They must fund the equipment if they cannot source funding from elsewhere.
